TRESSVEIL CARE GUIDE

Care for the hair you actually bought.

Straight, wave and curly do not need identical handling. Start with the shared basics, then adjust the routine to the texture you chose.

The right routine helps human hair stay manageable without turning care day into a complicated project. Handle the lace, cap and adjustable parts gently. Detangle from the ends upward, reduce unnecessary friction, use heat protectant before heat, and make major alterations only after you know you are keeping the unit.

01 · EVERYDAY CARE

Small habits before and after every wear

Daily care is mostly about reducing tangles, friction and buildup. It does not mean washing the wig every day.

Before wear

Detangle gently from the ends upward. For curly hair, use moisture and slip rather than dry brushing.

After wear

Check the nape and ends for tangles, let moisture dry fully, and store the unit without crushing the hair.

Before heat

Make sure the hair is dry, apply heat protectant and use the lowest effective temperature.

Curly note: Do not dry-brush Kinky Curly. Lightly dampen the section, add slip if needed, and detangle from the ends upward.

02 · When to Wash

Wash by condition, not a fixed wear count.

There is no single correct number of wears between washes. Wash when sweat, odor, product buildup, or loss of manageability tells you the unit needs it. Overwashing can leave human hair feeling dry.

Wearing situationWhen to consider washing
Light, occasional wear Wash when odor, buildup, or reduced manageability becomes noticeable.
Frequent wear Check the cap, nape, and product buildup more often.
Heavy styling product Wash when the hair feels coated or does not refresh normally.
Sweat or humid conditions Wash sooner when the cap or nape holds odor or buildup.
Three signs it is wash day: the cap or nape has an odor, the hair feels coated or unusually heavy, or the texture no longer refreshes with light moisture and gentle detangling.

03 · How to Wash

A six-step human hair wig wash routine

Work slowly, support the cap and wet lengths, and keep the hair moving in the direction it naturally falls.

  1. Detangle first

Gently remove tangles before fully wetting the unit. Work from the ends upward.

  2. Wet with lukewarm water

Support the cap and allow water to move in the direction of the hair rather than roughing the strands together.

  3. Clean gently

Use a small amount of gentle shampoo and avoid aggressive rubbing at the lace, knots and cap.

  4. Rinse thoroughly

Remove shampoo without twisting or wringing the hair.

  5. Condition the lengths

Apply conditioner mainly through the lengths and ends. Avoid heavy buildup at the lace and knots.

  6. Air-dry when practical

Blot excess water gently, reshape the texture and allow the unit to dry fully before wearing or using heat.

04 · Care by Texture

Protect the finish you chose

Use the same gentle foundation, then adjust detangling and refreshing to the texture.

Sleek bob and straight

Keep it smooth without overloading it. Detangle gently, protect before heat and store it so the ends are not crushed.

Body wave

Encourage the pattern rather than repeatedly forcing it straight. Reduce aggressive dry brushing, refresh lightly and let it air-dry when practical.

Kinky curly

Do not dry-brush. Detangle with moisture and slip from the ends upward. Reshape curls gently and reduce friction during wear and storage.

05 · Styling & Storage

Style safely and store it ready to wear

Heat styling

Use heat protectant and the lowest effective temperature. Repeated heat can change the original texture or finish.

Night / friction & storage

Night / friction
Do not sleep on the unit loose. Friction at the nape and ends can accelerate tangling and wear.
Storage
Store the wig dry, detangled and supported so the lace is not crushed and the ends are not folded underneath the unit.

06 · Common Mistakes

Six habits that cause avoidable wear

  • Starting detangling at the roots instead of the ends
  • Dry-brushing Kinky Curly
  • Using heat without protectant
  • Repeatedly forcing a wave or curl pattern straight
  • Storing the wig damp or crushed
  • Washing, coloring or altering the unit before confirming you are keeping it

07 · Care FAQ

Questions, answered

How often should I wash my wig?
Wash by condition, not a fixed wear count. Sweat, odor, buildup and loss of manageability are better signals than an arbitrary schedule.
Can I use heat?
Yes. Use heat protectant and the lowest effective temperature. Repeated heat can change the original finish.
Can I sleep in my wig?
Reducing overnight friction will generally make care easier. If you do sleep in the unit, protect the hair and avoid leaving the lengths loose against high-friction surfaces.
Can I color the hair?
Human hair can be altered, but coloring changes the product and affects return eligibility. Confirm fit before making permanent changes.
Why is my curly wig tangling at the nape?
The nape is a high-friction area. Use moisture and slip, detangle gently from the ends upward and reduce rubbing against clothing and bedding.
How long will the wig last?
We do not publish a fixed lifespan. Wear frequency, heat, friction, washing, storage, and alterations all affect the outcome.
